Best Electric Can Opener

I recently realized that I was behind the times with my manual can opener. Even on days when I don't have time to cook dinner, I am still opening cans to feed my two year old or to dump into the instant pot. I have finally wised up and made the switch to an electric can opener. In doing so, I had to research which was the best electric can opener. I am including my thoughts on all of them below, but I bought the Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch, and am very happy. 

#1 Cuisinart CCO-50BKN Deluxe Electric Can Opener

This electric can opener works with an easy press and release lever. It has an extra-wide base to prevent spills. It has an automatic stop feature. It is also very reasonably priced at $16.50. It is very easy to clean.

  • Easy to use
  • Good price
  • Good for arthritic hands

Cons

  • Complaints that it shreds the labels on the can so it is messy
  • Reports of not opening every can

#2 Hamilton Beach SmootH Touch Electric can opener

Unlike most can openers, this electric can opener opens cans on the edge of the can- not into the top of the can. This prevents bacteria contamination as the opener never touches the food. It also prevents spills and having to dig into the top to remove the cut lid.

Pros

  • Provides a mess-free, smooth cut

  • Reports of not opening every can

#3 Aicok Electric Can Opener

Another excellent electric can opener is the Aicok model. The operating mode is very simple- it works with a touch of a button. It is extra tall so you can open any size can. It is easy to clean. The removable metal cutting lever can go in the dishwasher. It also has an auto turn off and a 2 year warranty.

  • A magnetic holder is attached to a removable one-touch lever for effortless cleaning.
  • Precision power cut blade guarantees smooth edges.
  • This extra tall and powerful electric opener can cope even with tall cans.
  • Can act as manual knife sharpener

Cons

  • Sometimes it is difficult to attach the can to the opener.
  • Not very powerful

#4 Instecho Electric Can Opener

This is electric can opener is small and will not take up counter space. It fits in your drawer. It attaches to the can and when you push the button, it cuts the top of the can. It is an excellent gift for kids, elderly, or anyone who suffers from arthritis. It has a powerful motor and strong magnet so all you have to do is to lift up the handle of the opener and let it do its magic. To not only ensure safety in use, but to make your life easier, it even automatically shuts off when the can is opened.

Pros

  • Compact design and light weight
  • Easy to use
  • Powerful

Cons

  • Battery operated
  • Can only wipe off- not be submerged in water

#5 Proctor Silex plus electric can opener

This electric can opener is similar to the Aicock model, but it is more popular and less expensive. It is extra tall can opener is able to work with 7” cans. It has been designed with a knife sharpener in rear which means that you can use it for more than one thing. Due to the fact that it’s hygienic, you can remove the cutting lever for easy cleaning.

Pros

  • Easy to operate
  • Built-in knife sharpener
  • Automatic shut-off
  • Cord storage
  • Good price

Cons

  • You have to hold the handle down so hard on hands
  • There are complaints that it does not always open thicker cans

Conclusion​

Now that you have considered the above 5 electric can openers, it is time to announce the best electric can opener: Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch. It is the easiest to operate. It does not take up too much room on the counter and has a strong motor. Also, it is mess-free and does not contaminate your food when opening. It also will not break the bank at $28.
